There certainly was a lot of good TV last night. I was watching basketball primarily, but I also caught O'reily on The Daily Show with John Stewart and this new Late World show on VH1. This guy named Zach is apparently a comic and they just gave him a nightly talk show. It's not horrible, but I think someone should give another bearded LA resident a show on TV.

It seems as if the blogger folks in LA are living the high life with all their wild parties and whatnot. It just makes me really, really want to move out there. I need to work those contacts out there like crazy and see if something pans-out. If, by some weird chance someone in LA is reading this, float me a lead or two.

So I have a pretty good line on a job in Cincinnati. But the serious question that needs asking is this: Do I want to move there? As far as I can tell, the answer is no. With stories like this coming out of LA, I find it hard to think about moving anywhere else.

If I concentrate my energy on getting out to LA, I may see some success. But as of yet none of my contacts out there have reported back with any leads. If anyone reads this, and knows of a place in LA that's hiring Systems Analysts or Web Developers, please write.

It's time to gear-up the job search. I'm not sure what I'm going to do or where I'm going to go. But I am getting stir crazy. I don't want to rely on unemployment anymore. I'm not sure what this will mean for my plan to enlist. I'm certainly not ready for that yet. Maybe if I get into a job and absolutely hate it that will be the best motivation of all to get in shape for the Army. I've made progress in that direction already, but it's still a long way to the finish line.

So, I'm contacting all the old contacts and the new ones. I've abandoned the Internet job application process. It doesn't work. I spoke with an HR director for a major corporation here in town. She said that they get thousands of resumes for each position posted on the Internet, either directly on their site or through places like Monster or HotJobs. And now they don't even look at them. It's just "select all" and "delete" these days.

This may sound like a hopeless situation, but I don't see it that way. It was unlikely that I'd get hired through that channel anyhow. It's best to focus on actual human contacts. And though I'm not big on networking, I do have a lot of friends and acquaintances in the computer industry. So, hopefully one of these will come through for me.

This documentary on CBS is incredible. I remember hearing that there were a couple of French documentary filmmakers at the site, but I didn't realize exactly what they had filmed. They were following a fire fighter, a rookie. As I write, one of them is in the lobby of the first tower. There is the occasional loud crash from outside. This sound is from people jumping from the tower and landing on the ground outside. Jesus.

Just when I think life is becoming trivial again, this comes. This is the most vivid picture of that day I've seen. I don't know what this makes me feel. I don't know if I want to join the army more after seeing this, or less. I don't know and I don't care right now.

Maybe the Army will be the answer, maybe not. Maybe I'm not even cut out for the damn Army. I suppose I'll see sooner or later. But right now, it doesn't matter.
